  • Online payment method — net banking, UPI, or card

Step-by-step JOAPS walkthrough

  1. Register on the JOAPS portal with your name, email and mobile — confirm the OTP.
  2. Fill personal and academic details exactly as they appear on your documents.
  3. Upload your photograph and signature within the specified dimensions and file size.
  4. Choose your test paper — Economics, for MA/MSc Economics aspirants — and select your exam cities in order of preference.
  5. Pay the application fee online and save the transaction confirmation.
  6. Submit the form and download the confirmation page.
  7. Re-open JOAPS and confirm the status shows both "form submitted" and "payment successful".

7 mistakes that get IIT JAM forms rejected (or delayed)

  1. Photo or signature outside the brochure specifications — the most common rejection reason.
  2. Name or date of birth that does not match your government ID.
  3. A category certificate in an outdated format, or one that has expired.
  4. Too few exam-city choices, or cities listed in the wrong order of preference.
  5. Leaving the payment "pending" — your form is complete only after payment is confirmed.
  6. Selecting the wrong test paper in a hurry.
  7. Assuming "saved" means "submitted" — always verify the final status on JOAPS.

Verify exact specs against the official JOAPS information brochure; they change every year.

What to do in the first week after registering

Registration done? Your exam is roughly 15 weeks away — start the same week. Take a syllabus snapshot (Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematics, Statistics, Indian Economy), fix a weekly routine you can sustain, run one past-year-question diagnostic to find your gaps, and decide on guidance before the syllabus piles up. EduSure's IIT Special batch (September 2026 → February 2027) is built exactly to this timeline — daily live classes Monday to Saturday, 300+ recorded video hours, 20+ mock tests, and EcoTopper portal access; EduSure students include an All-India Rank 1 in IIT JAM 2022. See the course page for the current fee and batch details.
