CU Semester 2 — Data types, field survey methods, spreadsheet-based data analysis, frequency tables, and descriptive measures.

Course Syllabus

Types of data: cross-section, time series, pooled, and panel data
Nature and advantages of field survey data; role of pilot survey
Data entry, formatting, and validation in spreadsheet tools
Variables and observations: entering data into cells; formatting options
Data validation and conditional formatting: ensuring accuracy and consistency
Data sorting and filtering: criteria-based sorting and data extraction
Basic mathematical operators and built-in functions: SUM, AVERAGE, MAX, MIN, IF, COUNTIF, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP
Importing and exporting data: CSV files and databases
Converting raw data to grouped data; different types of frequency tables
Tabulation: two-way, three-way, and pivot tables
Frequency graphs: bar chart, column chart, frequency polygon, histogram, pie diagram
Calculation of mean, median, mode (ungrouped and grouped data)
Measures of dispersion and inequality (ungrouped and grouped data)
