Are you aspiring to pursue a Master’s in Economics at Banaras Hindu University (BHU)? BHU MA Economics Admissions If you missed out on the regular allotment process or are still seeking admission, BHU conducts additional rounds called “Spot Rounds” to fill any remaining open seats. Here’s everything you need to know about BHU MA Economics Admissions:

🔍 What is a Spot Round?

After the completion of the regular Combined Allotment Process (CAP) consisting of 7 rounds for PG programs, BHU may hold Spot Rounds if there are still vacant seats available. These rounds provide an opportunity for eligible candidates who were not allotted a seat in any department during the regular rounds to secure admission.

👥 Who Can Participate?

Candidates eligible to participate in Spot Rounds include:

Those who applied for CAP (PG)-2024 but were not allotted a seat in any department during the regular rounds.

Candidates who missed the application form before the start of the regular round.

Individuals who were on the waiting list after the 7th regular round.

📝 Spot Round Process:

  • Announcement: Once a Spot Round is announced, the online portal will be frozen for already admitted students, prohibiting them from upgrading or withdrawing their existing admissions.
  • Opting for Spot Round: Eligible candidates must choose the “Spot Admission” option on their online dashboard and pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1000.00 to participate.
  • Seat Selection: BHU will display a list of programs with available seats for each Spot Round. Candidates can choose only ONE program based on their preference.
  • Allocation Criteria: Seat allocation in Spot Rounds is based on factors such as seat availability, candidate’s merit ranking for the specific program, order of preference for departments/centres/colleges, candidate’s category (e.g., General, SC, ST), and other admission rules or criteria mentioned in the official CAP (PG)-2024 documents.
  • Mandatory Acceptance: Candidates must accept the seat allotted in a Spot Round. Failure to do so will result in the candidate losing eligibility for admission to BHU and being removed from CAP (PG)-2024 consideration.
  • No Upgrade/Withdrawal: Once a seat is allocated in a Spot Round, upgrading or withdrawing from it is not possible. The allotted seat is final and cannot be upgraded in subsequent Spot Rounds.

🔑 Key Points to Remember:

  • Spot Rounds provide a chance to secure a seat at BHU if candidates were not successful in the regular rounds.
  • Participation is optional, but seats are allocated based on merit and program preference.
  • Once a Spot Round seat is allocated, it’s final, and no further upgrading or withdrawing is permitted.

Spot Round Admissions offer a valuable opportunity for aspiring students to fulfill their academic aspirations at BHU. Stay informed and make the most of this chance to secure your seat in the MA Economics program!
