  1. Application Period:

The online application form for MA in Economics at JNU should be submitted from April 29, 2024, to May 27, 2024 (up to 11:50 PM). Make sure to complete your application within this timeframe.

  1. How to Apply:

To apply online, log in to the website https://jnuee.jnu.ac.in using your NTA Application Number and Date of Birth as User ID and Password, respectively. Follow the instructions carefully to complete the application process.

  1. Eligibility Criteria:

Before submitting your application, ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria mentioned in the E-Prospectus for PG & ADOP programmes (2024-25), available on www.jnu.ac.in. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks. Knowledge of Mathematics at the 10+2 level is expected and will be tested for in the Entrance Examination.

  1. Programme Details:

The MA programme in Economics at JNU focuses on two main areas:

  • Acquainting students with the analytical foundations of economics, including alternative theoretical approaches, global and Indian economic history, and quantitative methods.

Enabling students to relate their analytical understanding to real-world economic experiences and interpret processes of change using a historical perspective. Special emphasis is placed on the study of development aspects within the global and Indian economy.

  • The programme comprises 16 courses taught over four semesters, with 8 compulsory courses in the first year and 8 optional courses chosen from a range of offerings at the Centre. Additionally, students can select 2 courses from outside the Centre if desired. The programme also introduces students to research through the requirement of writing term papers for several courses.
  1. Application Fee:

The application fee for MA in Economics at JNU is Rs. 268. Make sure to pay the fee during the application process to complete your submission.

  1. Total Seats:

JNU offers a total of 39 seats in the School of International Studies (SIS) and 96 seats in the School of Social Sciences (SSS) for the MA programme in Economics.
