Ashoka University MA Economics Program Overview
shoka University’s Master’s programme in Economics has been developed to provide students the opportunity to be trained in modern Economics by highly qualified economists. Our approach to Economics is a comprehensive one. We believe in teaching students both how to ask and address questions that are informed by economic theory as well as how to substantiate their arguments with rigorous data analysis.
Application process for AshokaU MA Economics
- Apply through the AshokaU Website:All candidates must register for the AshokaU-conducted entrance test for admission to the MA Economics programme.
- Entrance Exam & Interview: The Entrance Exam is usually conducted in May each year. There is No Interview conducted after being shortlisted.
Course Fees, Seats and Hostel Facility
- Seats Available: The seat occupancy for MA Economics is flexible, ranging between 30 to 35 students.
- Course Fees: The annual programme fee for the MA Economics is ₹6,59,400 per year, which breaks down to ₹5,64,000 as tuition fees, ₹90,000 as off-campus residence and ₹5,400 as essential services fees.
- Hostel Facilities: Hostel accommodation is available for both boys and girls.
Eligibilty
- Mathematics Requirement: Mathematics at the 10+2 level or higher is not required.
- Qualifying Degree: To be eligible for the MA Economics programme at Ashoka University, you need a recognised undergraduate degree in any discipline. An undergraduate degree in Economics is not a prerequisite. Ashoka University graduates with a 3.6 or higher CGPA in Economics-related majors can apply for direct admission.
- Provisional Admission: Admission is provisional until the submission of final official mark sheets of the qualifying degree.

- Quantitative Focus: Covers Basic Mathematics and Statistics relevant to Economics.
Ashoka University Paper Pattern & Marking Scheme
- The entrance exam for this program is objective and includes multiple-choice questions. Students must complete sections on statistics and analytical reasoning, And they can choose either the mathematics or economics section.

The Ashoka International Summer Research Programme offers undergraduate and master’s students from both international partner and non-partner universities an opportunity to engage in cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research at Ashoka University.
