Ashoka University’s Master’s programme in Economics has been developed to provide students the opportunity to be trained in modern Economics by highly qualified economists. Eligibility Criteria for MA in Economics Ashoka University
To be eligible for the M.A. in Economics program at Ashoka, candidates need a recognized undergraduate degree in any discipline, and having an undergraduate degree in Economics is not mandatory. Ashoka graduates with a CGPA of 3.6 or higher in Economics-related majors can gain direct admission by submitting the application form, with the option to skip the entrance examination if they anticipate a 3.6 or higher CGPA upon completion of the sixth semester.

Statistics:
Covering topics like Measures of Central Tendency, Probability Theory, Random variables, Distributions (Discrete and Continuous), Sampling Distributions, Estimation, and Hypothesis Testing.
Analytical Reasoning:
Assessing logical reasoning, decision-making, inference, and pattern recognition without the need for prior disciplinary training.
Economics:
Microeconomics: Topics include Choice, Preferences, Consumer and Producer Theory, Market Structures (Perfect Competition and Monopoly), Exchange Economies, Welfare Economics, and Externalities. Macroeconomics: Covering National income accounting, Keynesian Model, IS-LM Model, Aggregate Demand and Supply, Rational Expectations, Growth Models (Solow model), and Money, Banking, and Inflation.
Mathematics:
Encompassing Set Theory, Logic, Functions, Limits, Continuity, Differentiation, Integration, Single and Multi-variable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Constrained optimization.

In 2021, we achieved a 90% placement rate for students seeking corporate roles, with positions in consulting, analysis, data science, and management trainees. In the corporate sector, MA Economics graduates are being recruited for the positions of consultants, analysts, data scientists, and management trainees. Some of our alumni are employed in American Express, Fractal Analytics, Euromonitor, Religare, Dr. Reddy’s Foundation, RocSearch, MXV Consulting, Indus Insights, Better.com, Egon Zehnder, to name a few. Our students are also working as researchers in organizations such as J-PAL, Good Business Lab (GBL), IFMR (KREA University), IIM Calcutta, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Delhi, Indian School of Business (ISB), CAFRAL (RBI), National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), to name a few. In our short history of three years, the average pay package has been 9 lakhs per annum, with the highest pay being 18.8 lakhs per annum. This year we had the highest placement rate. In 2021, 90 percent of students who registered an interest in corporate placement were able to secure a job.
